At this informal meeting Ministers of Health will discuss important health issues of common interest among EU Member States.
2013 is a landmark year for Ireland, marking the 40th anniversary of our accession to the then European Economic Community. Much has changed since then and European citizens face different challenges.
The Informal Meeting of Health Ministers on 4th and 5th March presents an opportunity to explore some of these challenges and look at what Health Ministers can do to improve the health and wellbeing of our citizens.
The agenda for the meeting will include items on health and wellbeing - childhood obesity; working towards smoke free environments; children with complex developmental needs (including autism); and patient safety. The working lunch for Heads of Delegations only on the 4th will provide an opportunity to discuss the impact of the economic crisis on health systems and consideration of policy responses.
